FAQ
If flying, select the San Jose del Cabo (SJD) international airport.
When driving to Casa Marlin Azul from the airport, take a right off of Mex 1, and drive all the way in, through the little hamlet of Santa Cruz and through the city of La Ribera. Using the same directions as you would to get to Marina Costa Palmas, drive straight and don’t turn all the way down to the bottom of the hill in La Ribera until you cannot go further. Turn LEFT. This will take you to the edge of La Ribera, and the road will switch from cement paved to dirt. Keep going. It takes about 10-15 minutes from the edge of La Ribera to the turn to Rancho Los Pinos. You’ll pass Marina Costa Palmas on your right. Keep going. You’ll drive across an arroyo (dry river bed) and you’ll see a sort of oasis on your right, full of palm trees. Keep going. The road will bend left and right and left again, and then it will finally straighten out. When you get a little further, you’ll see a yellow stucco wall with the words “Rancho Los Pinos” on your right. Turn RIGHT here. Go all the way in until you cannot drive further (you are now about at the beach). Turn right and go to the second to the last house on your left. Casa Marlin Azul is adobe colored (dark orange) and has an iron gate.
Our Mexican caretaker, Hector, will meet you with the keys. Hector speaks excellent English, and is very charming. He is also a licensed taxi driver and his wife, Cuca is a terrific chef. He and his wife Cuca live about 2 miles from Casa Marlin Azul. He frequently escorts guests to destinations throughout the East Cape and will serve as a helpful guide if you have any questions during your stay.
There are multiple grocery stores close to the house. You’ll find eggs, milk, bread, tortillas, lunch meats and cheeses, vegetables, fruit, bottled water, and liquor. They take American dollars, and you’ll be able to stock Casa Marlin Azul’s fridge and pantry from there. Don’t forget to tip the little girl or boy who bags your groceries!
Directions from Casa Marlin Azul: The same as restaurant La Ribera, as you come off of Mex 1, and into the city of La Ribera, turn right at the Oxxo and up the hill, on the right, you’ll see a grocery store. It is white and has a Corona Beer paint theme.
We can arrange for someone to come to Casa Marlin Azul and prepare authentic Mexican meals (or your catch of the day). This service is available for both small and big groups. Our property manager’s wife, Cuca, loves to cook for guests of Casa Marlin Azul. She enjoys cooking shrimp chile relleno, rice, beans, chicken enchiladas, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The cost is only $17 USD per person for dinner.
